Peek into the laundry production process
A short video to show the production process at Bluebird Laundry’s plant in Birmingham.
The different stages of production are:
- Sorting linen: At Bluebird the linen is sorted into different categories. The categories are:
- Towels,
- Sheets,
- Duvet covers,
- Pillowcases
- Restaurant linen
- Washing – At Bluebird we have two separate wash areas:
- CBW – The conveyor is loaded with 35Kg of linen. The linen is taken to the 1st compartment of a 8 compartment continuous batch washer (CBW). The CBW is capable to washing 35kg of linen every 3 minutes, 700kg every hour.
- Extractors – At Bluebird we have a 45kg, 55kg, 110kg and 180kg washer extractors. Capable of washing 390kg per hour.
- Drying – At Bluebird we have 3 x 60kg dryers connected to the CBW which all have temperature sensors and cool down options. This ensures we do not over dry the items and cools down the items where required. We also have 2 stand alone dryers, both with cool down options.
- Ironing Line – The ironing line consists of a feeder, two roll 1200 ironer and a folder. Connected to the folder we have a Mobics AiScan, this scans all items to prevent items with holes, stains from passing through to packing.
- Towel Folder – The towel folder is used to fold the towels to a high standard. This is capable to folder 1000 pieces an hour
The production process is used to deliver high quality, clean linen to customers in the West Midlands, Warwickshire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Shropshire and Gloucestershire. Bluebird is able to service customers from 10 bedrooms up to 300 bedrooms.
